Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Rehabilitation Services Office Coordinator is the face of the department and will greet our patients and obtain demographic financial and biographical information from the patient. The office assistant is responsible for understanding insurance terminology obtaining information to appropriately bill payors verifying patient insurance eligibility confirming benefits eligibility and gathering statistical information in compliance with federal and state regulations. Ensuring that the clinic flows and assists in coordinating patient flow through the clinic. The office assistant is responsible for the delivery of quality performance and service excellence. Strong computer skills critical thinking skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment are required.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Greet patients and their caregivers with courtesy and respect upon arrival.

Answer telephone in a positive and professional manner. Put customer services first with all patients and family members.

Schedules patients on provider schedule using the appropriate appointment type and collects appropriate information to book the appointment.

Collect information such as patient details medical or accident history billing and insurance information etc.

Communicates with provider and nurse regarding scheduling additions or changes to the schedule.

Follow registration best practices ensuring information is accurate insurance details are captured and verified obtain all applicable signatures and scan supporting documentation.

Provide patients with billing and payment information.

Collect applicable co-pays/co-insurance or payments on account provide receipts

Pre-register scheduled patients verify insurance benefits and coordinate financial counseling as needed.

Successfully manage a high call volume and deal with patient questions concerns and issues. Take and relay messages or complete tasks as required.

Listens well and devotes full attention to patients and medical professionals alike.

Monitors the worklist and schedules appointments and communicates with provider on patient needs.

Assist with special projects and assignments as directed by manager.
