SCOPE OF ROLE: The Content and Communications Coordinator will lead and support communication and media activities across Save the Childrens Sumy Kharkiv and Dnipro offices. This includes creating compelling content on issues affecting children in Ukraine such as case studies videos photography and reports as well as producing internal communications materials as needed.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Communications
- Provide communications support to the Sumy Kharkiv and Dnipro offices ensuring consistent effective and high-quality messaging.
- Develop and implement area communications plans aligned with the Country Office strategy ensuring coherence across Sumy Kharkiv and Dnipro offices.
- Proactively propose ideas and initiatives to strengthen Save the Childrens visibility presence and impact in the regions.
- Monitor and analyse communication trends in the humanitarian sector and in Ukraine to adjust messaging identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Work closely with partner organizations to establish systems that promote consistent messaging enhance visibility support localization and facilitate joint content collection.
- Provide regular updates on context developments and programmatic activities from area offices to inform advocacy media and communications outputs.
- SupportContent and Media Manager in coordinating and maintaining relationships with local journalists and media outlets to enhance coverage and visibility of Save the Childrens work.
- Support media engagement by identifying human-interest stories drafting press materials and coordinating media visits in line with safety and safeguarding protocols.
- Support teams in meeting donor compliance requirements and addressing communications-related needs.
- Support the teams with the design of communications/visibility materials collaborating with contractors or working independently to ensure professional and impactful outputs.
- Collaborate with Advocacy and Programs teams to design and implement special communications projects and public events that engage key audiences.
Content
- Establish and maintain a coordinated content collection system across the three offices involving partners and contractors to ensure balanced representation of activities and achievements in each region.
- Collect and produce content both independently and with contractors to support advocacy visibility and donor compliance including stories photos videos and case studies across multiple regions (Dnipro Zaporizhzhia Donetsk Kharkiv Poltava Sumy).
- Ensure all communications products adhere to quality standards brand guidelines and Child Safeguarding policies.
- Maintain a well-organized content library ensuring metadata consent forms and storage systems are properly managed and accessible.
General
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection code of conduct health and safety equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- University degree or equivalent experience in journalism media communications or a similar discipline.
- High level of both spoken and written English and Ukrainian
- At least two years of professional experience in communications multimedia journalism media or external communications work in an INGO or media setting
- Can produce accurate clear and consistent information and communication outputs relating to both program support and humanitarian situation
- Strong coordination and project-management skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks contractors deadlines and priorities across several regions.
- Evidence of excellent English verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of different audiences including donors journalists and the general public. Ability to strategically target a wide range of audiences is essential.
- Experience producing high-quality written and visual content (e.g. stories photo captions short videos case studies) under tight deadlines.
- Experience in leading information and communication flows between emergency responses and a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
- Proven ability to work with communities and partners to gather case studies testimonies and information on the humanitarian situation and on programs.
- Proven photo and video editing skills (e.g. Adobe Lightroom InDesign/Illustrator Photoshop Premiere Canva CapCut etc.).
Desirable
- Previous INGO experience
- Previous experience in design of visual materials
- Familiarity with branding and content management systems used by INGOs.
- Knowledge of regional dynamics in eastern and northern Ukraine including humanitarian security and political sensitivities
