Job Summary:
The Controller will oversee and assist in the monthly preparation of financial statements and analysis reports. Analyzes cost records to ascertain distribution of costs. Classifies labor material and overhead costs to compute the costs of services provided. Records costs data for use by management in controlling expenditures. Conducts and analyzes audits of costs and prepares reports. Determines and installs accounting methods and procedures. Analyzes actual costs versus standard costs and prepares reports of variances. Compiles costs data for preparation of operating budgets. Prepares cost estimates for new or proposed services.
May supervise or direct the work of accountants financial analysts or clerical employees engaged in cost or general accounting activities.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in business accounting finance or related field required.
- CPA preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of accounting experience required; supervisory experience in accounting or finance preferred.
- Cost accounting experience preferred.
- Hospital/healthcare experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient understanding of accounting functions
- Excellent computer skills including intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel; basic proficiency in other Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem solving techniques and interpersonal skills including excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong investigative analytical organizational and critical thinking skills
- Maintain positive teamwork attitude and self-motivation
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines with minimal supervision
- Accurately prepare analyze and maintain financial reports
- Ability to research and problem-solve independently
- Maintain working relationships with directors and executives
- Ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines including those of a last-minute nature
- Ability to compile accurate data and present to Executive Council
