Job Summary:
This role enables patients to secure access to care at facilities by performing all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts. The position involves calculating and securing patient liability including copayments coinsurance and deductibles while ensuring the needs of the patient physician and hospital are met.

Responsibilities:
- Perform all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts.
- Calculate and secure patient liability including copayments coinsurance and deductibles.
- Scan documents and verify insurance.
- Secure upfront collections.
- Verify patients are appropriately medically screened and stabilized before Consent of Admissions is signed/discussed and liability is requested.
- Complete a minimum of 20 registrations striving for 30 per 8-hour shift.
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Perform data entry into electronic medical database systems.
- Document patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Perform selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinate equipment/supply needs and notify the appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- 2 years experience in front office/medical billing and/or current hospital registration/admitting
- 2 years experience in insurance verification and/or medical/hospital billing.
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Knowledge of eligibility requirements for Medi-Cal Hospital Presumptive Eligibility Program Medicare Covered California Cobra limited benefit plans VVC and Uncompensated Care Programs.
- IPA and EMTALA knowledge and experience
- Stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws
- Medical terminology
- Strong typing skills (45 wpm)
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within three (3) months of hire date
- LA City Fire Card within six (6) months of employment
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Evidence of continuing education in Finance Accounting or Business Administration
- Bilingual
Special Considerations:
- No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment.
- Once RTO is submitted it cannot be changed unless its to cancel time requested.
Scheduling:
- Part-time: 3x8-hour shifts (09:00am - 05:30pm)
- Every weekend and one shift during each week.
- This shift would require working every Saturday Sunday and Monday.

- Orientation hours may differ from shift times
