GM Ventures LLC headquartered in Warren MI was formed in 2010 as the Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) arm of General Motors LLC. GM Ventures primary mission is to enhance GMs vision by selectively investing in and commercially collaborating with startups that offer unique solutions for GMs most critical business needs. We are a lean and focused team that stays closely connected both internally with the GM business and externally with the startup and venture capital ecosystem. GM Ventures is seeking a dynamic self-starter with a passion for technology and business development to join our venture team as a Portfolio Implementation Associate. The implementation associate serves as the conduit between the business units and portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle and ensures that the full business potential of each startups engagement with GM is realized. This role requires deep knowledge of the GM corporation along with a fresh look and openness to new business opportunities. The work begins prior to the investment in outlining opportunities and continues with drafting and executing an implementation strategy per technology/business opportunity. This role is pivotal to the success of GM Ventures stated mission.

Requirements:

As a member of the GM Ventures team you will have two primary functions:

• Oversee the deployment of technology and solutions from a select group of GM Ventures portfolio companies to grow value for both GM and the start-up
• Interface between R&D Advanced Engineering and various other GM business units to track and accelerate all relationships between GM and the assigned portfolio companies

• Experience working in the innovation space preferably within GM
• Possess strong interpersonal skills and sound business judgement combined with a technical background
• Able to work in an ambiguous environment and identify the exact KPI to focus on and deliver results against
• Able to establish and build strong relationships with both internal and external partners
• Creative big picture thinker with a strong team player mind set

What you will do:

• For your assigned portfolio companies you will proactively identify untapped needs and use cases within GMs various business units (Manufacturing Global Purchasing and Supply Chain Design Engineering Customer Experience etc.) through periodic interactions and ideation sessions with designated stakeholders
• Support the development of commercial agreements that are led by the GMV investment team
• Work with portfolio companies to drive value to both GM and the startup by aligning company value proposition to GMs needs and driving internal expansion
• Perform regular implementation reviews to ensure that the business engagement is on track
• Work closely with various GM business units and SMEs on tech related partnerships

Additional Description

What you need:

• Advanced degree in Business Science or Engineering
• Passion for technology and innovation and commitment to seeing it implemented at GM
• Capable of working both independently and collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Effective communication skills with researchers or engineers business stakeholders and entrepreneurs
• Ability to lead technical discussions within the team
• Minimum of 5 years experience building strong relationships and networks across organization business units and/or venture capital teams

What would be better:

• 3-5 years of experience in technical/innovation development
• Experience within start-up eco-system

Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren MI three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business
