A Day in the Life

The Director Global Compensation is responsible for developing implementing and managing comprehensive compensation strategies and programs that support the organizations business objectives and talent needs worldwide. This role will lead the design and execution of global compensation frameworks including base pay short-term incentives (STI) sales compensation and executive compensation. The Director will partner closely with the Head of Total Rewards HRBP business leaders and external advisors to ensure competitive equitable and compliant practices across all regions.

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronics Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. As a separate entity we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development implementation and governance of global compensation programs ensuring alignment with business strategy and market best practices.

  • Oversee the design administration and communication of short-term incentive (STI) plans including eligibility performance metrics and payout processes.

  • Develop and manage sales compensation programs in partnership with Finance that drive performance and support business growth ensuring alignment with sales strategies and market competitiveness.

  • Provide support for executive compensation programs including base salary annual and long-term incentives and equity-based compensation (in partnership with the Equity Manager) ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with shareholder interests.

  • Provide expert consultation and guidance to HR business partners and senior leaders on compensation-related matters including market analysis job evaluation and pay equity.

  • Monitor global compensation trends regulatory changes and industry best practices to inform program design and ensure ongoing competitiveness and compliance.

  • Lead the annual compensation review process including salary planning incentive calculations and compensation-related communications.

  • Collaborate with Finance Legal and external consultants to ensure effective governance reporting and compliance for all compensation programs.

  • Analyze compensation data and prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors as needed.

  • Support global M&A activities and integration efforts from a compensation perspective.

  • Manage and develop a high-performing compensation team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with 10 years of progressive compensation experience including global program design and management or an advanced degree with 8 years of progressive compensation experience including global program design and addition 7 years of management experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or relevant certification (e.g. CCP) preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in short-term incentive sales compensation and executive compensation for public companies.

  • Strong analytical project management and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities with experience influencing senior leadership.

  • In-depth knowledge of global compensation regulations and market practices.

  • Experience working in a large matrixed multinational environment preferred.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$178400.00 - $267600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
