Schedule:
- Monday to Friday - 7 am to 5 pm
- Hybrid after probation period (90 days)
Responsible for medication management dispensing and patient/family education. Supports patients seen in ambulatory clinics hospital discharges and supports ongoing medication maintenance in the home.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees pharmacy technicians and interns in the performance of prescription data entry prior authorization submissions resolution of billing issues and preparation of prescriptions. Assigns tasks checks work (i.e. compounds) and provides input in performance evaluations.
- Reviews outpatient prescriptions; determines appropriateness of dosage form for the size and weight of the child; contacts physician if in doubt of appropriateness of dosage. May on occasion need to fill a prescription from a study and perform the required record keeping.
- Dispenses and counsels caregivers on medications; manages dispensing information including patient profile review and potential medication complications and takes appropriate action to correct problems.
- Obtains appropriate insurance information effectively troubleshoots insurance related barriers.
- Provides drug information to health professionals patients and caregivers.
Education Requirement:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required.
- Doctor of Pharmacy preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Licensure or licensure-eligibility to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio required.
Skills:
- Basic skills in using and documenting in an electronic medical record.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required in providing education to patients/families and patient care team members; as well as in interactions with students the public pharmaceutical representatives and representatives from external institutions (i.e. colleges of pharmacy health care institutions).
- Aptitude for detail and medication safety skills.
Experience:
Community Pharmacy/Retail Experience or internship preferred.
