As a Programme Assistant Driver you will be expected toprovide personal and activity-based assistance to the members of the Carmel Fallon Holiday Centre Clontarf in a way which enhances their independence dignity and self-esteem as members of the local community.
Liaison
For the successful implementation of this role there are a number of relationships which should be fostered and developed: primarily these will be with the members and their liaison isalsorequired with the Head of Respite Service Manager Service Coordinator Service Support Officer colleaguesandvolunteersas well as themembersfamilies. Links will also be made with relevant voluntary and statutory agencies and educational institutes.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To provide person centred support to guests to ensure guests have a planned person centred and enjoyable holiday break and sure that standards set out in the IWA Holiday Manual are implemented
To assist members in all aspects of personal care and daily living as identified by the members via the Identification of Requirement Process.
To support members to plan holiday centre-based activities and to support members to identify outings and trips of their choice to ensure a quality holiday experience.
To ensure that a welcome meeting is held at an agreed time with the group on arrival and an event plan is drafted agreed with all and in place.
To provide a lead role on shift to ensure that a quality service is delivered at all times.
To Source relevant and appropriate information for members either for their interest or to support them in self-advocacy endeavours. Examples of these information types include the IWAs Access Guidelines the Operation Sign-Up campaign details on the mobility grant allowance and matters relating to parking cards.
To ensure the service delivered is a professional service and that it is delivered at a very high standard while adhering to all IWA policies and procedures.
To ensure that all guest files and daily reports are kept updated as set out by the IWA Holiday Services Manual.
To ensure the normal range of duties associated with the upkeep of the members bedrooms and communal areas are completed.
To assist with meal planning in consultation with the members and preparation and delivery of meal service adhering to HACCP guidelines.
To Ensure that your work and interaction with others is such that it promotes and enhances the IWA Holiday Service Model.
To be available to work flexible hours i.e. mornings evenings overnights.
To implement the action planning and reporting systems within the parameters set by the Head of Respite
To actively ensure that standards and practices regarding health and safety are fully adhered to in all areas of the and report any incidents/accidents to the Head of Respite.
To work in a confidential manner respecting peoples right to privacy and your role in their holiday experience.
Carry out other duties and/or responsibilities which may be assigned to you from time to time
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Training Experience and Qualifications
A minimum of 5 completed modules of QQI level 5 (Major Award) Care Support or similar qualification is essential. QQI Major Awards that are deemed relevant to IWA are:
Community & Health Services(to include minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Provision & Practice)
Health Service Skills(to include minor components in Workplace Statutory Policies & Procedures and Care Skills and Care Support)
Health Care Support(to include minor components Safety & Health at Work and Care Skills and Care Support)
Category B DrivingLicenseis required
Knowledge and Skills
Strong computer and administration skillsan advantage
Previous experience of working with people with disabilities is desirable
Understanding of the social model of disability and the concepts of person-centredplanningan advantage
Previous experience in a holiday respite or residential setting desirable
