Arlington School is a Department of MA Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) approved special education therapeutic day school program for students in grades 9-12 experiencing mental health challenges that have impacted their education. We are looking to hire an experienced school nurse to join our dynamic team of educators and school clinicians. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal are essential to provide supports for the wide ranging needs of our student population. We follow the school calendar aligned with most public schools.


Job Summary

Summary
Responsible for promoting the health and well-being of students managing medical emergencies and implementing health promotion programs while collaborating with educators parents and healthcare providers to create a healthy and safe school environment that supports optimal learning and growth.

Essential Functions
-Provide routine and emergency nursing care to students and staff members in affiliated schools.

-Assess and address students health needs including administering medications managing chronic health conditions and performing health screenings.

-Develop individualized health plans and accommodation plans for students with specific health needs ensuring their safety and well-being during school hours.

-Conduct health assessments screenings and vision/hearing tests to identify health issues and refer for further evaluation when necessary.

-Educate students and staff on health topics including nutrition hygiene and disease prevention through health promotion programs and training sessions.

-Respond to medical emergencies and injuries that occur during school hours providing immediate care and coordinating with emergency services if needed.

-Responsible for managing all nursing materials and maintaining student health records.

EducationBachelors Degree Nursing requiredCan this role accept experience in lieu of a degreeNoLicenses and CredentialsRegistered Nurse RN - State License - Generic - HR Only requiredExperienceClinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting. 5-7 years required and Developing clinical educational materials and teaching / facilitating clinical courses 1-2 years preferredKnowledge Skills and Abilities- Demonstrated experience in nursing education curriculum development and program delivery. - In-depth knowledge of nursing theory evidence-based practice and current healthcare trends and regulations. - Strong instructional and facilitation skills with the ability to engage learners and promote active participation. - Proficient in utilizing various teaching methods and educational technologies including online learning platforms and simulation tools. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with learners colleagues and stakeholders.
