Bachelors degree in health care administration or business administration required.

Masters degree in health care administration or business administration required.

PHAR Pharmacist registered to practice pharmacy in state of Texas or eligible for registration required upon hire.

10 years experience as a leader within profession of pharmacy with minimum of ten years experience as a pharmacy director and above in an integrated system required.

Experience establishing and monitoring new business processes and opportunities to lead Texas Health Resources in the development of nationally recognized pharmacy services across the continuum of care.

This position serves as the system executive for pharmacy services (all business lines) across the enterprise. The System Pharmacy Officer will be responsible for the strategic and operational success of enterprise pharmacy programs including full operational responsibility for specialty retail and ambulatory pharmacy functions and clinical responsibility for acute care pharmacy operations. This executive is the subject matter expert for the pharmacy business line and working with entity and system leadership is responsible for the development management and growth of all pharmacy services across the continuum of care. This position reports to the System Chief Operating Officer.

The System Pharmacy Officer has the following duties and responsibilities:

Direct operational responsibility for specialty pharmacy retail pharmacy ambulatory pharmacy and other possible business opportunities for the pharmacy business line. Engage with executive leadership entity leadership and physician leaders to develop programs and processes to improve the care of our patients manage financial risk and improve financial performance.

Responsible for centralized acute care pharmacy functions including formulary management medication distribution quality initiatives clinical practice standardization management of patients across transitions of care and dissemination of data to drive practice change across the continuum of care.

Develop opportunities to partner with physicians to manage difficult and costly patients through ambulatory pharmacy collaborative practice agreements and medication therapy management programs.

Create dashboards and metrics to monitor pharmacy performance across the continuum of care. Identify data needs and implement programs to obtain and use data to drive clinical and operational decisions.

Create a culture of innovation and research across the pharmacy business line that supports the strategic initiatives of Texas Health Resources.

Provide leadership to the pharmacy directors of wholly owned entities and supply chain management to drive standardization of processes and reduction of costs while improving outcomes. Coordinate with entity leadership that provides the operational oversight of the deployment of pharmacy strategies.

In conjunction with system and CIN leadership develop programs in collaboration with strategic marketing to provide offerings to employers to better manage prescription drug expenditures.

Identify partners to maximize the pharmacy benefit to Texas Health Resources basing decisions on sound business and financial principles in analyzing the most appropriate way to provide care to our patients and to manage our risks.

Provide executive leadership to the THR P&T Cabinet. Serve on other committees or teams as appropriate to advance the Mission and Vision of Texas Health Resources.

Create and/or support pharmacy leadership development initiatives mentoring system pharmacists and creating a talent pool to fill future leadership openings.

Interface with leaders in the pharmacy profession including Deans of the schools of pharmacy leaders of professional organizations and Chief Pharmacy Officers from other systems.
