Job Summary

Job Description Summary
Under general supervision performs clerical and technical level work in providing quasi-administrative and technical support related to processing and maintaining the Districts payroll.

Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of: o Bookkeeping office practices business practices and procedures specific to payroll processing and maintenance o Basic accounting clerical practices. o General laws rules and policies affecting payroll records and programs. o Payroll preparation and verification procedures. o Knowledge and proficiencyMS Excel (add MS Excel after MS Word) o Payroll processing experience with ERP systems preferably Oracle/PeopleSoft HCM 9.2 o Work experience in an academic institution o Pension (CalSTRS; CalPERS) reporting experience Ability to: o Learn and apply policies and regulations pertaining to payroll procedures. o Perform difficult financial clerical work requiring the use of independent judgment and initiative. o Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. o Post data and make arithmetical computation rapidly and accurately. o Operate standard office machines including calculator adding machines and computer. o Meet schedules and timelines. o Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Effectively explain payroll records-keeping procedures and requirements. o Good communication required (both verbal and written) o Ability to work under strict deadlines o Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task o Trustworthy with a great work ethics

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of financial or accounting record-keeping experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Knowledge and proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers utilizing word processing spreadsheet and database management software programs (e.g. MS Office Suite MS Word MS Access and MS PowerPoint) the Internet browser websites e-mail and 10-key by touch. Experience with ERP systems preferably Oracle/PeopleSoft 9.0. Strong customer service skills with understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
