Controller
Type: Full-Time On-Site Stony Plain or Camrose AB
Our client a large and well-established equipment dealer with multiple locations across Alberta is seeking an experienced and energetic Controller to join their Head Office accounting and finance team. This is a key leadership role overseeing a team of 11 direct reports contributing to strategic financial management and ensuring the smooth operation of all accounting payroll and administrative functions.
The Opportunity
This is a pivotal role within the finance and accounting group. You will examine and analyze accounting and financial records to ensure accuracy compliance and strong internal controls. You will also support month-end year-end audits and key financial reporting processes while providing leadership to the accounting and administrative teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage a team of 11 accounting and administration staff providing leadership development and mentorship
- Examine analyze and reconcile accounting and financial records for accuracy and compliance
- Support corporate accounting with monthly financial statements year-end statements branch review packages and audit preparation
- Oversee payroll processing benefits administration and employee payroll issue resolution
- Work closely with banks lenders financing agencies insurance providers and compliance partners
- Prepare board packages and support key financial presentations
- Manage cash flow insurance negotiations and benefits-related vendor relationships
- Ensure internal controls and financial procedures are adhered to
- Contribute to the companys financial strategy and operational decision-making
What You Bring
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a CPA designation
- Experience leading accounting and administrative teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate financial information
- High energy adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where priorities change
- Advanced analytical skills and sound judgment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook (advanced Excel is an asset)
- Professionalism confidentiality and strong organizational abilities
- Experience in agriculture dealership construction or related industries is an asset
