Field Refractory / Mechanical Foreman

The Refractory & Mechanical Foreman will have strong leadership skills and hands-on expertise in the installation of ceramic fiber blanket refractory linings insulation systems and related mechanical components. This role performs labor and oversees on-site crews ensures safe and efficient execution of work and maintains quality standards while traveling to multiple industrial job sites.
Responsibilities:
Refractory & Mechanical Work
- Lead and perform installation of ceramic fiber blanket refractory linings modules board systems and insulation materials.
- Oversee mechanical tasks related to refractory support systems anchors frames and steel components.
- Read and interpret blueprints isometric drawings and technical instructions.
- Ensure proper surface prep anchor placement material handling and installation techniques.
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and industry standards.
Leadership & Crew Management
- Supervise schedule and coordinate daily activities of refractory and mechanical crews.
- Train employees on correct installation methods and safety procedures.
- Monitor crew productivity and ensure work is completed on time and within scope.
- Act as primary on-site contact for project managers contractors and client representatives.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all company OSHA and site-specific safety protocols.
- Conduct daily toolbox talks JHAs and hazard assessments.
- Ensure proper use of PPE tools and equipment.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Project Execution & Reporting
- Track material usage labor hours and project progress.
- Identify and resolve installation or design issues on site.
- Prepare daily reports timesheets and quality documentation.
- Assist with inspections testing and turnover requirements.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of refractory installation experience including ceramic fiber blanket systems.
- 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role preferred.
- OSHA 10/30 & NCCER certifications preferred
- Strong knowledge of industrial furnaces boilers kilns heaters and high-temperature equipment.
- Ability to read construction drawings specs and job packets.
- Familiarity with anchors welding support systems and basic mechanical assembly.
- Experience with module systems castables gunite plastics and brick.
- Must be able to travel extensively and work extended hours as needed.
- Valid drivers license; ability to pass all background drug and site requirements.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs climb work at heights and work in confined spaces.
