This is an intake position with the primary responsibility for scheduling referrals to RTC program for initial evaluation and will perform other duties related to the intake and ongoing enrollment process. Will respond to inquiries for services gather demographic and insurance data collects preliminary client information to identify appropriate referrals for RTC services. Verifies insurance coverage and acquires proper pre-authorization for enrollment. This position requires general and specific knowledge of behavioral health. The Residential Treatment Center Intake Specialist is expected to exercise independent judgment under the supervision of the Director of Intake and Division Director of RTC.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Actively seeks to provide quality customer service while providing clients and families responsive intake service that reflects a working knowledge of internal programs support groups and other services. Will maintain positive relationship with managed care companies and will solicit feedback as needed.
- Fields and tracks RTC referrals and calls of interest into the program.
- Check eligibility for RTC referrals determining co-pays and deductibles.
- Complete RTC intake assessment.
- Complete all out of area inquiries and agreements including private pay agreements and payment management liaising with the billing department.

What we need from you.
- Work requires knowledge of community resources in social medical and mental health areas; knowledge of managed care organizations; basic knowledge of health insurance terminology and basic oral and written communication skills acquired through either:
- a high school education (diploma or GED) and 2-3 years of experience.
- A Bachelors degree in psychology counseling social work or related field.
- Work requires interpersonal skills sufficient to represent programs professionally. Requires ability to effectively interact with client family members and referrers in addition to representing the residential treatment program to outsiders.
- Work requires analytical skills sufficient to edit documents generate reports and logs and summarize quality monitors.
- Work requires the ability to assess and triage patients for admission and track discharges to ensure that beds are tracked to know when admissions should occur.
- Skills sufficient to interact effectively with the psychiatrically disabled with the goal of gaining cooperation and meaningful participation.
- Must possess a valid Maryland Drivers License and have a current driving record with less than (4) points on it at the time of hire. Must possess valid automobile insurance coverage. Work may require the use of your own vehicle.
- Completion of staff required trainings and certifications.
