| Job Description: | The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the onlyone at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center we span all of the University of Floridas 16 colleges pulling together a world-class multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As a Genetic Counseling Assistant at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI) you will be responsible for supporting the Hereditary Cancer Program by coordinating patient visits collecting family history information preparing pedigrees and assisting genetic counselors throughout the genetic counseling and testing process. Success in this role requires strong patient communication skills high attention to detail comfort working in a clinical setting and the ability to manage sensitive health information in a fast-paced environment. In your new role you will be responsible for the following: - Coordinating and scheduling genetic counseling appointments screening referrals collecting detailed family histories and preparing patient charts for sessions.
- Assisting with informed consent preparing pedigrees facilitating sample collection and ensuring timely shipment of genetic testing kits and specimens.
- Entering updating and maintaining patient and testing data within the Progeny relational database and EPIC systems while ensuring HIPAA-compliant handling of information.
- Supporting pre-authorization and genetic testing workflows by communicating with laboratories preparing documentation and tracking testing progress and results.
- Providing front-line patient support through phone triage greeting patients guiding them to appointments and assisting with routine inquiries.

| Required Qualifications: | High school diploma or equivalent. |

| Preferred: | Knowledge/Experience: - Bachelors degree with interest in health awareness genetics or counseling (preferred but not required).
- Experience working directly with patients; familiarity with HIPAA patient data and privacy requirements.
- Customer service background in a healthcare or service-oriented setting.
- Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record systems; familiarity with Progeny or other pedigree-drawing tools preferred.
Qualities: - Strong commitment to excellent customer service and patient-centered care.
- Reliable proactive and willing to go the extra mile.
- Eager to learn about hereditary cancers and support a fast-paced clinical program.
Skills/Abilities: - Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong communication organization and multitasking skills.
