Job Summary

Overview

Element has an opportunity for aMetallurgical Prep Technicianto safely and accurately perform metallurgical sample preparations such that subsequent testing and evaluations can be conducted in accordance with applicable standards specifications and customers PO (purchase order).

Shift hours - 2 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Salary: $19/hr-$23/hr $1.00 Shift Diff once on 2nd shift

Responsibilities

  • Perform metallurgical evaluations on metallic materials
  • Section mount and polishes using automated equipment or by hand in preparation for metallurgical evaluation
  • Setup equipment and perform testing for metallurgical corrosion evaluations
  • Provides support to Metallurgists and Failure Analysis Engineers
  • Works with other staff to meet the delivery obligations of the metallographic laboratory
  • Ensure safety of self coworkers and visitors by following written and verbal safety procedures
  • Apply and record data using sensitive instrumentation
  • Participates in company 5S and Safety initiatives

    This is a fast-paced environment and we need someone who is proactive self-motivated and a team player. The person for this role will be a specialist in their field respected by all who they work with keen to learn and enthusiastic in the face of challenge. You will:

    • Minimum high school graduate metallographic/metallurgy coursework preferred
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office general computer skills
    • Strong applied math skills (arithmetic algebra)
    • Ability to read and understand ASTM ISO AMS etc. and specific customer standards and procedures
