About the Role

Were seeking expressions of interest to join the Fixed Networks team within the Technology Remote Operations Centre (TROC) based in Perth. Operating 24x7 on a lifestyle roster the TROC team supports a wide range of safety and production-critical Operational Technology (OT) systems across Minerals Australia assets.

Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances as part of your remuneration package.

Networks Specialists play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of critical production networks. Operating in a fast-paced environment the team monitors and maintains network systems around the clock triages and troubleshoots issues and drives improvements to reduce downtime and enhance performance. Their work is essential to maintaining safe and smooth operations across BHP sites.

This role requires a foundational understanding of network architecture including system interconnectivity traffic flow across network layers and communication between OT systems and enterprise platforms.

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Completed a tertiary or vendor qualification in either a technology science or engineering discipline
  • Previous experience working in an OT Operations Centre is highly preferred
  • Previous mining/resources remote site process control experience preferred including operational support of mission critical services
  • Self-motivated effective communicator with strong analytical problem-solving skills
  • Strong ability to translate technical business requirements to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to take ownership of critical incident resolution driving incidents to closure
  • Rapidly troubleshoot and solve complex technology problems to restore production system availability in a structured timeous manner
  • Review root cause of incidents and work with appropriate teams to ensure continuous improvement of the technology environment
  • Apply effective risk controls to identify potential threats and minimize or remove a service impact

Experience supporting similar production systems as below is highly desirable but not required

  • IT Service Management processes and tools eg: ServiceNow
  • Networking experience and certifications inc. Cisco CCNA DevNet Associate CCNP ENCOR Juniper JNCIA
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering IT and OT networks firewalls and wireless networks
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of network protocols eg: OSPF EIGRP BGP VRF STP PVRST REP VTP LACP PAGP etc
  • AAA authentication and Identify Services eg: Cisco ISE TACACS
  • In-depth knowledge of the 7 Layers of the OSI model and how to troubleshoot each layer
  • Knowledge of Cisco IOS command line
  • Network health monitoring via SolarWinds Splunk and Cisco Meraki products
  • Experience raising vendor support cases eg: Cisco TAC Telstra Connect and Next DC
  • Knowledge and experience of Physical Hosted server infrastructure eg: Cisco UCS VxBlock VxRail
  • Control systems and communications experience eg: Citect SCADA PLCs FlexIO/RackIO modules (DeviceNet Modbus Ethernet Profibus Module)

Operational experience within industrial or mining environments is valued but not mandatory. We recognise that skills and experience can be gained in different ways.
