Job Summary

Automotive ADAS Technicians are responsible for calibrating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles to ensure that safety features such as lane departure warning adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking function correctly. This requires using specialized diagnostic tools to precisely align sensors cameras and radars according to manufacturer specifications often after a vehicle repair. Key skills include a strong background in automotive electronics knowledge of diagnostic tools and software and attention to detail.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Calibrating ADAS:Performing static or dynamic calibrations on systems after they have been repaired or replaced.
  • Diagnostic testing:Using specialized diagnostic tools to test and analyze ADAS components.
  • Following specifications:Adhering strictly to the manufacturers guidelines and specifications for each calibration.
  • Using specialized equipment:Operating calibration equipment that may include specialized targets lasers and computer software.
  • Staying current:Keeping up to date with rapidly evolving ADAS technologies and calibration procedures.
Required skills and qualifications
  • Technical knowledge:A solid understanding of automotive electronics sensor technology and vehicle diagnostics.
  • Tool proficiency:Experience with OEM diagnostic tools calibration software and vehicle alignment systems.
  • Attention to detail:Crucial for ensuring the precise alignment and proper function of ADAS components.
  • Problem-solving:The ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise during the calibration process.
  • Training and certification:Often requires technical training or certifications in automotive repair and ADAS calibration.
