The Legacy Engines and APU Structures Group within the Component Design & Analysis (CDA) directorate is responsible for the design development and analysis of static gas turbine engine components. The successful applicant will be responsible for performing and leading subordinate efforts on stress vibration and heat transfer analyses. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise on a variety of engine and power systems programs. You will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards processes and tools to ensure compliance to customer and program requirements. Other responsibilities include communicating with Project engineering teams resource and manpower planning conduction of design reviews presentations to internal and external customers ensuring proper documentation of work performed and engaging and leading department process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analysis using complex finite element methods
- Provide technical oversight to global engineering teams across time zones
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
- Manpower/task/schedule planning
- Project Coordination
- Project and product compliance
- Risk management
- Process Development
- Root Cause and Corrective Action
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences technology engineering or mathematics
- 10 years of experience performing structural analysis on gas turbine engines
- Proficiency in linear static nonlinear/elastic-plastic fatigue (HCF & LCF) modal shock harmonic random vibration & crack growth analyses
- Strong working knowledge of ANSYS finite element software & classical hand calculation methods
