Position Overview

The Secondary ISS Teacher helps maintain a safe orderly and supportive learning environment for students who require short-term placement outside the regular classroom. This role is essential to ensuring continuity of learning reinforcing school expectations and building positive relationships that help students re-engage successfully with their classes. The ISS Teacher supervises students provides academic support across content areas communicates proactively with teachers and administrators and models the professionalism and compassion that define SFS schools.

This position is an excellent fit for someone who is student-centered calm under pressure firm but relational and committed to helping students grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support students assigned to ISS throughout the school day.
  
  
• Maintain a structured quiet and productive learning environment aligned with school-wide expectations.
  
  
• Ensure students receive and complete class assignments; provide academic assistance across subjects as needed.
  
  
• Support students in developing positive behaviors habits and decision-making skills.
  
  
• Communicate regularly with teachers and administrators about student progress and needs.
  
  
• Track attendance behavior documentation and student work completion in accordance with campus systems.
  
  
• Reinforce restorative practices when appropriate and contribute to a climate of dignity and respect.
  
  
• Implement safety procedures and ensure compliance with all district and campus policies.
  
  
• Participate in professional development and ongoing coaching as part of the SFS commitment to continuous growth.
  
  

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  
  
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  
  
• Ability to support students academically across multiple subjects
  
  
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism confidentiality and consistent expectations
  
  

Preferred:

• Prior experience working with secondary students
  
  
• College coursework or degree in education counseling or related field
  
  
• Experience in behavior support tutoring mentorship or classroom management
