Fleet Support Officer

Permanent

Working 36.5 hours per week

Were looking for a proactive Fleet Support Officer to join our Street Scene Fleet Management team at Birmingham City Council. This is a key role in ensuring our fleet operates efficiently safely and in full compliance with regulatory standards.

Youll work closely with colleagues and external partners to maintain accurate records support operational analysis and help deliver cost-effective services that keep Birmingham moving.

What youll do...

  • Coordinate and maintain essential maintenance documentation (PMIs brake tests defect logs).
  • Keep statutory records up to date for tax MOT insurance and licensing.
  • Validate fuel card requests and monitor fuel transactions for accuracy.
  • Assist with procurement activities including raising purchase orders.
  • Support insurance claims processing and incident reporting.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers to resolve compliance issues promptly.
  • Produce and analyse fleet data reports using Excel and Power BI.
  • Ensure GDPR compliance when handling sensitive documentation.
  • Administer hire vehicle approvals and monitor associated costs.
  • Support monitoring of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Were looking for someone who:

  • Understands vehicle compliance requirements (MOTs O Licence tax insurance).
  • Has experience managing insurance claims and analysing fleet data.
  • Is highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Communicates effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Is proficient in IT systems including fleet management software Microsoft Office and DVLA portals.
