About this Job
The Maintenance Department has a vacancy for an Electrician position. This position is for promotional opportunity and isopen only to current permanent classified employees of McNeese State University.

This position is to perform at an experienced level of electrical duties. The Electrician will maintain and install electrical systems primarily 480 volts and under throughout the campus. This position is also subject to drug testing due to safety and security sensitive work. This position requires a drivers license and may require a clear driving record if required to drive on behalf of the University.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience or training in the electrical trade.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
The Electrician will:
- Maintain all electrical systems and programs and lighting systems for the University.
- Install alters maintain and repairs wiring systems electrical fixtures receptacles and various types of lightings.
- Make electrical inspections of all electrical equipment and maintain emergency generators.
- Install new electrical equipment troubleshoot repair and install electrical motor starters switchgears and controls.
- Use standard electrical tools such as volt meters amp meters watt meters and related equipment to trouble shoot and isolate problems.
- Use specialized equipment such as manlifts scissor lifts etc. to reach lights on poles throughout the campus.

Monday - Thursday: 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Friday: 7:30 - 11:30 AM
Appointment Type:This vacancy is being announced as a classified position and will be filled bypromotion of a current classified permanent status employee of McNeese State University. This is a full-time 40-hour per week position and considered non-exempt under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and overtime can be mandatory. This position is also subject to drug testing due to safety and security sensitive work. This position requires a drivers license and may require a clear driving record if required to drive on behalf of the University.
