Housing Officer-Part Time 12 Month Contract

We are supporting our client Metro Community Housing - a leading provider of safe secure and sustainable housing for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The team are committed to delivering person-centred trauma-informed services that empower individuals and strengthen communities and are needing a dedicated Housing Officer to join the team in Newtown on a part time basis.

About the Role

As a Housing Officer you will manage a portfolio of properties and be the primary point of contact for tenants ensuring they receive high-quality respectful and responsive tenancy services. You will work closely with tenants support partners and community organisations to help people sustain their housing and improve long-term wellbeing.

This is a hands-on varied role that includes managing tenancy applications sign-ups inspections rent arrears complaints and disputes. You will also coordinate repairs and maintenance manage vacancies and represent Metro at the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal when required. Accurate record keeping strong communication skills and an ability to work within legal and policy frameworks with a person centred approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end tenancy management from application through to exit.
• Support tenants to sustain their housing through referrals and collaborative case coordination.
• Manage arrears tenancy disputes behavioural issues and tribunal matters.
• Conduct property inspections home visits and oversee repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records across HOMES CHIMES SDM and internal systems.
• Source and manage leasehold properties and rent reviews in line with policy.
• Ensure compliance with tenancy legislation funding requirements and Metros policies.
• Contribute to reporting WHS obligations and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You are values-driven empathetic and confident working with people from diverse backgrounds including individuals with complex needs. You bring strong communication organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You understand tenancy legislation and have experience building positive relationships with tenants contractors and support services.

What Youll Bring

• Certificate IV in Social Housing (or related field) or equivalent experience.
• Experience in tenancy management arrears management and/or tribunal advocacy.
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice and person-centred service delivery.
• Strong data and record management skills.
• Experience in community housing NFP or real estate (preferred).
• Valid National Police Check and Working with Children Check.
