The Material Handler performs a variety of functions in the material handling area including moving furniture and equipment setting up for events and collecting and disposing of trash and excess material. This position will operate the material handling van dump truck forklift and other College vehicles; coordinate with customers onsite concerning furniture and equipment moves and event setups; and must have the ability to read and interpret instructions contained in property dispositions work orders and job tickets. Reports to Events Coordinator Facilities.

Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and six months experience in moving furniture equipment and loading equipment on moving vans are required. A current valid Florida Class D license or a Florida CDL with a safe driving record is required. Demonstrated ability to lift 75 pounds from the floor to the waist and move the load to a new location within ten feet is required. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.
Pursuant to College policy it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of 435.04(2) Florida Statutes related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Hourly Rate: $15.00
