Job Summary

Job Summary: The primary function of this position is to serve as an Instrument Operations addition to having prior experience and advanced skills in ASU CO2 or onsite process plant operations the ideal candidate will have prior experience and intermediate skills in maintenance and troubleshooting in one or both of the following with basic skills in the other: 1. process instrumentation and controls; 2. electrical equipment.

Principal Responsibilities:

Principal Responsibilities

Safety

  • Understand and adhere to company safe work policies.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the Safety Health Environmental and Quality programs.
  • Apply the hazardous work permit (HWP) process lockout-tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures as required for company and contractor personnel.
  • Follow management of change (MOC) procedures for all changes to process and operating procedures.
  • Direct and monitor contractors.
  • Lead and participate in operations maintenance and safety meetings.
  • Participate in safety committee activities as required.

Reliability and Maintenance

  • Support plant inventory management efforts.
  • Follow work instructions and annotate with feedback.
  • Set up and safely operate all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned work.
  • Effectively prioritize and schedule all work activities.
  • Perform and document process and product analyzers calibration checks.
  • Instrumentation & Controls (Once Certified):
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting of instrumentation and control valves.
  • Calibrate configure and/or replace field instrumentation devices.
  • Install commission and troubleshoot control valves.
  • Perform intermediate troubleshooting of process control systems.
  • Functionally test or troubleshoot instrument or electrical control loops through field devices to verify proper operation.
  • Electrical (Once Certified):
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Repair electrical equipment control circuits.
  • Perform LOTO of electrical systems and confirm zero energy.

Process Operation and Efficiency

  • Lead shutdowns start-ups derimes and production state changes for plant(s) in area.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)(SAP).
  • Troubleshoot process problems to identify equipment requiring maintenance.
  • Perform water treatment analysis and associated tasks.
  • Document activities and data in the plant electronic logbook and SAP system.
  • Accept on-call duty and overtime as required.

People / Interpersonal

  • Maintain open line of communication with manager and other stakeholders.
  • Support new employees and entry-level technicians through coaching and mentoring.

  • Required Skills:
    Math -âBasic algebra fractions/percentages unit conversion.
  • Personal computer proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to support team philosophy and strategy.
  • Ability to work alone.
  • High mechanical aptitude and ability to work with simple mechanics hand tools.
  • Intermediate knowledge of chemical manufacturing hazards.
  • Familiarity with common process equipment and their functions.
  • Understanding of basic electrical hazards and safety and skills in troubleshooting electrical systems with support from subject matter experts.
  • Instrumentation: Ability to troubleshoot 4-20 mA transmitter and electro-pneumatic control loops.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings including P&IDs and PFDs.
  • Able to navigate a document management system to find relevant work instructions forms and supporting documentation.
  • Ability to complete intermediate preventive maintenance tasks according to best practices.
  • Capable of operating a forklift and/or overhead crane and/or man lift.
  • Electrical: Ability to interpret electrical drawings including single-line diagrams.
  • Understanding of trip and interlock logic protecting people and equipment.
  • Certified to ISA Level 2 to qualify for instrumentation skills requirement.
  • Certificate in a technical discipline two-year related degree or recent military training in a technical field will be considered in lieu of ISA Level 2 certification.
  • The job requirement is to obtain your ISA Level 2 certification within two years of hire date.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience in a related process plant operations maintenance or reliability activity.
  • Physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things; bending stooping kneeling climbing ladders and lifting and carrying loads of up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb to heights 200 ft above grade and work effectively.
  • Reside within a reasonable distance of the plant.
  • Valid drivers license
  • Capable of distinguishing different colors.
