Rate of Pay: 18.25 - 24.06 per hour
Summary:
Camden Council is seeking a committed and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to deliver accurate timely and compliant payroll services across the organisation. The role involves providing technical advice guidance and support to payroll officers staff and key stakeholders while collaborating closely with HR Business Advisors Finance and Application Specialists.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring statutory compliance maintaining accurate employee records and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires strong payroll expertise technical proficiency in HR and payroll systems and a relational approach to human-centered service delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Process monthly payroll for all staff including Teachers and Officers ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage starters leavers movers and all associated payroll changes including overtime expense reimbursement loans salary sacrifice and other deductions.
- Provide expert guidance on payroll queries statutory deductions and compliance with legislation (HMRC GDPR).
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation Camden policies and best practice.
- Work closely with HR Finance and Application Specialists to align payroll with policies and procedures.
- Support managers and staff with queries regarding terms and conditions family leave employee benefits and absence policies.
Requirements:
- Extensive payroll experience within a large organisation.
- Proficiency in payroll systems (Oracle Cloud Essentials HP Trim EAS) and MS Excel/Word.
- Strong understanding of statutory and voluntary deductions pay calculations and payroll legislation.
- Attention to detail problem-solving and excellent communication skills.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality accurate payroll services.
