Position Summary

Santa Clara University is seeking an analyst to join a team of four investment professionals who work together to manage the $1.5 billion endowment. All of the investment professionals are generalists who work collaboratively to make team-based investment decisions across the portfolio.

The Analyst will assist the team in the selection due diligence and monitoring of investment managers in several asset classes. They are expected to assist in both qualitative and quantitative analyses and to maintain the general data infrastructure for such analyses.

Santa Clara Universitys endowment benefits from a mature portfolio of high-quality managers making ongoing portfolio monitoring a key aspect of the role. Travel is a feature of manager diligence and monitoring. This position will report to the Chief Investment Officer.

The successful candidate must be flexible and interested in a broad range of investment topics. A key competency is forming independent thoughts and theses while also working collaboratively to arrive at team-based decisions. A desire to work as part of a highly collaborative team is required.

Responsibilities

The Investment Analyst will have a generalist role across all assets classes and provide support for all portfolio management activities. This position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a small innovative team with a very large fiduciary responsibility and strong track-record.

The Investment Analysts responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and enhance the analytical infrastructure supporting the management of the portfolio. This includes performance reporting and analysis underlying holding analysis liquidity management cash flow analysis and projections etc.

  • Work with senior team members to monitor existing investments and develop analytical insights on the portfolio to assess investment strategy execution.

  • Support the senior members of the investment team in the quantitative and qualitative investment due diligence process of new investments.

  • Attend and participate in fund manager meetings.

  • Assist in preparing investment committee memos.

  • Identify and implement tools and resources used in connection with fund manager sourcing and market monitoring.

  • Utilize research management and portfolio management software systems.

  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects related to improving investment processes portfolio monitoring and risk systems

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the below qualifications in addition to a compelling record of accomplishment. While experience in investing and manager evaluation is particularly helpful less experienced applicants with exceptional analytical ability and a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.   • Bachelors degree or the expectation of a Bachelors degree before 6/30/2026.

  • 0-2 years of experience in investing finance investment banking business or consulting.

  • Fluency in Excel.

  • Competence across the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Caissa a plus.

This position will require in-office hours and is located on campus in Santa Clara CA.
