Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of experience operating various equipment associated with light construction/excavation in grounds maintenance.
- Valid Florida drivers license.
- Valid Florida commercial drivers license (CDL):
- Class A;
- Air brakes endorsement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years of experience operating various equipment associated with light construction/excavation in grounds maintenance.
Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of pertinent regulations policies and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Public Records Sunshine Law FERPA and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy public information and records retention.
- Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment materials practices computers and applications.
- Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
- Ability to lead project crews.
- Ability to comply with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements.

Responsibilities
- Assist in the selection of heavy-duty equipment for assigned projects.
- Inspect assigned work sites before/after each job for prep work and/or completion.
- Operate maintain service and perform all related tasks on the backhoe tractor bucket truck dump truck sewer rodder ditch witch skid steer loader side arm mower bat-wing mower etc.
- Excavate water gas electric and sewer lines.
- Load/unload dirt gravel sand and other materials.
- Perform tasks/assignments on a timely and cost-effective basis to meet deadlines and schedules.
- Provide updates on the status of tasks materials equipment and/or tools to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Utilize basic District computer applications for communication training and record keeping.
- Assist in the instruction of personnel on specific tasks when required.
- Comply with applicable safety regulations and procedures.
- Perform all related duties of the grounds and site employees as necessary.
- Assist in the CDL training of staff.
- Register with the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse.
- Maintain driver and CDL licensure and required endorsements.
