Connections for Learning (CFL) is seeking a dedicated and innovative Junior High Teacher to join our team in our Junior High Learning Hub program in a temporary full-time position.
Connections for Learning Junior High Learning Hub provides flexible innovative programming to help students realize success in their career and educational goals. This program focuses on the individual needs of students. The students parents teachers and administration collaborate closely together to create a personalized program plan designed specifically to meet the academic social/emotional health and wellness learning needs of each individual student.
This role involves delivering engaging and meaningful personalized instruction in accordance with each students personalized plan fostering a supportive and caring learning environment and working collaboratively with students families and staff to support student success in an alternative learning setting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Personalized Learning Plans: Conduct student intake meetings to design individualized program plans that reflect students academic social-emotional and wellness goals.
Instructional Delivery: Manage student individual plans deliver engaging lessons and student-centered learning experiences. Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse student learning needs and abilities. Support both in person and at home learning.
Content Development: Develop and enhance instructional resources including paper-based and virtual learning materials to continuously improve the programs offerings. Utilize technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Meaningful Activities: Design and facilitate classroom activities that foster community collaboration and experiential learning to complement individual work. This includes the opportunity to organize and lead field trips that enrich learning and build relationships.
Assessment and Reporting: Assess evaluate and report on student progress using a variety of tools to capture growth in both academic and social-emotional competencies.
Collaboration: Work closely with students families and colleagues to monitor progress provide feedback and adapt learning plans as needed. Participate actively in team meetings and collaborative planning sessions.
Social-Emotional Support: Foster a caring and supportive environment where students feel safe respected and motivated to learn. Create a positive inclusive and safe classroom environment.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Certification: Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
Experience: Teaching experience in junior high grades is an asset particularly in alternative education settings.
Curriculum Knowledge: Strong understanding of Alberta Education curriculum assessment practices and strategies for personalized learning.
Innovation: Proficiency in integrating technology blended learning tools and innovative teaching methods to enhance student engagement.
Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with students families and colleagues.
Organization: Strong classroom management and organizational skills to foster an inclusive and productive learning environment.
Vision : Learn how the program supports students and continue to develop a strong vision for the program in order to continually move it forward.
Special Requirements:
Flexibility to support various learning modalities (in-person at home online or blended learning).
Must undergo a Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check.
