Tessera is seeking a Mechanic Marine Machinery/Facilities responsible for the dismantling repair relocation modification alignment and installation of a wide range of marine machinery equipment and systems. This position supports the maintenance and overhaul of propulsion systems propellers rudders cargo handling machinery lifeboat davits anchor handling gear and missile tube equipment located aboard submarines ships and other floating craft. The role plays a vital part in ensuring that all marine mechanical systems operate safely efficiently and in compliance with applicable standards and specifications.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Inspects and diagnoses problems in marine engines pumps compressors winches cranes HVAC systems hydraulic systems and other onboard mechanical systems.

• Performs routine maintenance like oil changes filter replacements and lubrication.

• Repairs or replaces faulty parts such as gears valves seals and bearings.

• Installing new mechanical equipment on ships or at marine facilities.

• Modifying or upgrading existing systems to meet new performance or safety standards.

• Using diagnostic tools and technical manuals to pinpoint problems in complex systems.

• Testing repaired systems to ensure they operate correctly under load and environmental conditions.

• Ensuring that all machinery complies with maritime safety and environmental regulations (e.g. SOLAS MARPOL).

• Keep records of maintenance schedules inspections and repairs for audits or inspections.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree

• Minimum of 3 years related experience

• Certification or training from maritime institutions preferred.

• Knowledge of marine systems and regulations.

• Practical knowledge of the mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components of diverse marine machinery and their attachments.

• Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics. Safety awareness especially in confined spaces and hazardous environments.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

• May be to reach kneel walk stand and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

• Work may require repetitive motion reaching lifting kneeling and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time climbing in and out of a vehicle and up and down stairs may also be .

• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
