Duties & Responsibilities:
To provide technical expertise and support for products equipment and systems by:
Responsibilities:
Within the defined timescales costs and technical requirements specified to perform all of the following:
To develop an understanding of components and their relation to our products and services
To be accountable for the validation of selected components and suggest alternatives where applicable. Understand the purpose of a preferred parts/manufacturers list
To have an understanding of the domain in which components will be used and the imperatives of the user and customer communities
To address Obsolescence issues arising in our products systems and projects
To deliver work packages related to services offered by component engineering (e.g. RoHS REACh Trade Compliance Counterfeit management LTB and PCN notices and resolutions)
To understand and manage the different solutions required within different scenarios (e.g. Materials Chemicals Standards Software)
To provide technical expertise to sub-divisions which relate to the components and to effect improvements to the processes and related equipment
To provide engineering advice and direction to subcontractors and assume responsibility for engineering aspects of procurement especially in relation to Obsolescence requests
To manage workload and communicate issues in a timely manner that does not impact upon the delivery of support to the customer
To represent the company in technical interactions with external organisations. Ensure that any assumptions and dependencies associated with the solutions are identified recorded and maintained
Additionally to have the capability to perform all of the following:
To initiate approve issue and present any documentation covering this work
To produce estimates for packages of work
To disseminate component knowledge and component application within the company
Qualification & Experience
HND//Degree level education or significant experience in electronic/related engineering
Understanding of REACH/RoHS/Conflict Materials and how they affect obsolescence/replacement part selection
Sound design or repair experience in analogue and digital electronics down to component level (desirable)
Good verbal and written communication skills
Experience with Thales supported PLM Tools would be an advantage
