Job Duties:

This is a tenure-track nine-month faculty position in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. The position is based at the Stevens Point campus and involves courses primarily taught in person but there is a possibility of teaching assignments at the Wausau or Marshfield campuses and of online or hybrid courses. Teaching load is 12 student credit hours per semester (24 student credit hours/year). The successful candidate will teach courses in general chemistry and biochemistry. Additional responsibilities include the development of a productive experimental research program involving undergraduates student advising and department school college and university-level service.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is part of the School of Biology Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Letters and Science. The department is housed in the Haeni Chemistry Biology Building on the UWSP main campus and includes facilities on the Wausau and Marshfield campuses. The department includes 16 full-time faculty representing a wide range of subdisciplines. Their primary mission is teaching to and performing research with undergraduate students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry or a closely related field.
  • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.
  • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to involving undergraduate students in research.
  • Commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postdoctoral experience in Biochemistry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an independent laboratory based externally funded research program involving undergraduate students.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective student-centered and inclusive teaching in biochemistry at the undergraduate level including a commitment to academic best practices.
  • Ability to engage in teaching and research that complement the departments existing strengths and advance its strategic goals.
