Job Summary

Junior Chef

Your role

Youll be a part of our Catering team based in Melbourne and will work closely with the Back of House Team. Our friendly supportive and collaborative team is part of the broader Business Operations Department which covers Concierge Records Management and Facilities Management.

Our Corporate Catering team prepare a variety of innovative on-trend food items to enhance the experience of our clients. Our team can accommodate a number of clients events from a formal breakfast lunch and dinner to canapés for cocktail events and corporate seminars.

As a Junior Chef in our Catering team you will:

  • Prepare sandwiches and salads for client and internal meetings and for our new in-house café for Allens staff.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to all clients and Allens employees.
  • Assist with food preparation under the instruction of the Chef.
  • Support the team by assisting with dishwashing and general kitchen cleanliness.
  • Ensure all kitchen areas are kept cleaned and sanitised including work benches shelving fridges and equipment.
  • Manage the café food operations end-to-end including preparing salads from start to finish and cooking ingredients.
  • Assist the team by performing basic administrative tasks where required.

This is a permanent opportunity. Working hours are from 6am 2pm.

About you

You will have:

  • The ability to work well under pressure and in a busy environment.
  • Experience working as part of a team providing excellent service to a range of customers.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Possession of a Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or a food handling certificate is highly desirable.
  • Experience in food preparation within a corporate environment is beneficial.
  • A passion for food.
  • The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • A desire to learn grow network mentor others.
