Job Summary

Director of Dining Services
SUMMARY
Supervises employees engaged in serving food in healthcare assisted living independent living cafeteria and catering. Responsible for sanitation and cleanliness of food service areas and equipment. Plans and implements nutritional care services to all health and residents thru the clinical team. Determines the vision of Dining Services to maintain an industry competitive program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assigns and coordinates work of employees to provide a high level of dining services to residents guest and staff.
  • Directs the training and development of supervisors and staff to provide exceptional dining services.
  • Prepares master work schedules and evaluates work performance of employees.
  • Provides overall direction to the production and service of meals.
  • Assures that the Dining Service Department adheres to all local state and federal regulatory agency requirements.
  • Maintains financial and statistical records needed to measure performance of department.
  • Manages nutritional care of residents through the clinical nutrition team.
  • Develops the facility master menu. Evaluates standardized recipes for appropriateness of nutritional needs of residents.
  • Recommends revisions to the diet manual used at Grace Brethren Village.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Process Improvement (QAPI) Committee and Infection Control issues Management Team Meetings Resident Food Committee and leads Dining Service Department meetings. Participates in other meetings/teams as required.
  • Prepares and maintains annual department budget for operations and FTEs.
  • Directs and controls assigned operations and information to maintain sound privacy and security practices and prevent privacy security breaches. If a breach occurs take corrective action.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages dining services staff. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Is responsible for direction coordination and evaluation of production healthcare independent living dining services cafeteria catering purchasing sanitation and nutrition care.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Fifth year college or university program certificate; or at least six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Servsafe Certification and Certified Dietary Manager Culinary Arts Degree would be desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
A valid and unencumbered Ohio drivers license. Valid automobile insurance meeting Ohio minimum requirements.
