About this Opportunity
Plans develops supervises evaluates and oversees the Engineering Divisions Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Coordinates with City departments and other governmental agencies regarding projects programs policies and funding.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees Capital Improvement Program projects and budgets
- Coordinates CIP projects with other City departments and serves as the departments liaison to respond to media contacts concerning CIP projects
- Supervises the work of assigned personnel including assigning and reviewing work providing guidance and conducting performance evaluations
- Serves on district committee for the Statewide Urban Design and Specifications(SUDAS)organization
- Serves on the Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC) for the Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization.
- Suggests and assists in improving the quality of consultant professional services.
- Develops process improvements
- Develops and delivers presentations to City Council neighborhood associations business interests and general public
- Programs and budgets projects in Public Works 5-year Capital Improvement Program
- Manages and coordinates public outreach efforts on CIP projects during design and construction. Responds to citizens questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner
- Performs related work as required
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering or a related field and
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in engineering design and specifications including engineering project management from project conception through construction completion or
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Iowa or ability to obtain within 6 months if licensed in another state
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with government agency coordination and State and Federal Grant Programs
- Organizational leadership and management experience
Position Schedule
- Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm
