Role Overview
The successful candidate will manage and grow the retail business in Western Japan collaborating with distribution partners and key retail clients to execute the groups strategy and expand the Off-trade channel.

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute regional Off-trade strategies including both long-term and short-term plans to increase market share and meet revenue goals.

  • Conduct customer research and competitor analysis to identify growth opportunities and regional market needs.

  • Define formalize and regularly review channel strategies prioritizing key customers and creating effective approaches to outperform competitors.

Sales & Account Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key Off-trade clients including wholesalers distributors department stores and convenience stores acting as a trusted advisor to drive mutual growth.

  • Negotiate and close deals that deliver value to both the company and customers.

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities securing new accounts and optimizing existing ones.

  • Collaborate with distributors to increase brand sales in the Off-trade channel in Western Japan.

  • Work with clients and internal teams to forecast demand manage product allocations and optimize account portfolios.

  • Allocate trade investments strategically monitor program effectiveness and drive profitable business growth.

  • Collaborate closely with the Commercial Director National Key Account Managers Area Managers Trade Marketing and other cross-functional teams ensuring transparent and proactive communication with stakeholders regarding plans performance and opportunities.

Key Targets & Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales budget and volume targets while maintaining profit margins.

  • Expand distribution with new clients and drive account growth in existing accounts.

  • Develop accurate forecasts and manage allocated investment in line with budget goals.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in business development or sales preferably within alcoholic spirits or consumer goods sectors.

  • Strong knowledge of key account management with retail chains and FMCG expertise in sales marketing and insights.

  • Experience working in fast-paced multi-cultural environments and multinational companies.

  • Proficiency in MS Word Excel PowerPoint Power BI Salesforce CRM tools and SAP.

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English.

  • Drivers license.

  • Professional certifications in wine or spirits such as JSA Sommelier or WSET are a plus.

  • Knowledge of prestige champagne cognac and whisky categories.
