Job Summary

A welcoming primary school in Northamptonshire is seeking an experienced SENCO to lead special educational needs provision from January 2026. The appointed SENCO will develop and deliver a strategic SEND plan coordinate targeted interventions and ensure compliance with statutory duties. This SENCO post offers the chance to make a measurable difference to outcomes for pupils with additional needs within a supportive Northamptonshire community.

The SENCO will line-manage support staff oversee assessment and provision mapping and work with parents and external agencies to secure the best support for learners. You will join a school committed to inclusion and professional development; the role will include a structured induction prior to January 2026 so the SENCO can start the spring term prepared and confident. The school serves families across Northamptonshire and the SENCO will work closely with local authority services and multi-agency partners within Northamptonshire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the evaluation and development of SEND provision ensuring timely identification and intervention.
  • Coordinate EHCP processes statutory reviews and multi-agency meetings.
  • Oversee targeted interventions and monitor impact using clear measurable outcomes.
  • Support and train teaching and support staff to implement effective adaptive strategies.
  • Build strong partnerships with parents external specialists and local authority colleagues.

Person specification

  • Qualified teacher status and proven experience coordinating SEND provision.
  • Strong understanding of statutory SEND frameworks EHCP processes and best-practice interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills able to lead teams and work cooperatively with families and agencies.
  • Highly organised data-literate and confident in tracking progress across cohorts.
  • Available to commence in January 2026 and to work across the school community in Northamptonshire.
