Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse and performs clerical communication and other related duties to facilitate the efficient functioning of department services. The CNA assists patients with daily living activities collects patient data and specimens and assists the patient care team by performing designated patient care procedures.
Location:Portland Oregon United States
Responsibilities:
- Assists patients in routine activities of daily living including range of motion ambulation positioning skin care linen changes feeding hygiene toileting and incontinent care.
- Assists patient care team in collection of patient data and specimens including urine stool and sputum specimens; obtains and records health weights vital signs pulse oximetry pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professional.
- Assists patient care team by performing and explaining designated patient care procedures including incentive spirometry patient transport prepping for diagnostic tests assisting rehab therapists performing pulse oximetry/oxygen setup preparing rooms providing post-mortem care and preparing for admission and discharge.
- Assists nurse in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs suction (oral nasopharynx).
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs and notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR

- Will float between units.
- Weekends required every other weekend.
