Sr. Foreman Low Voltage Structured Cabling
Position Summary
The Sr. Foreman is responsible for leading all aspects of low-voltage structured cabling projects from initial client contact and estimation through final closeout. The ideal candidate will leverage a strong background in field installation and foreman supervision to ensure that projects are completed on time within budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge excellent leadership and superior communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Execution
- Manage all phases of low-voltage projects including structured cabling fiber optics access control security systems and other specialized systems.
- Develop comprehensive project plans schedules and budgets and track progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Procure materials equipment and labor and coordinate logistics to ensure resources are available when needed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients architects and subcontractors providing regular project status updates.
- Utilize construction management software such as Procore to manage project documentation track progress and facilitate communication.
- Prepare and manage project documentation including submittals RFIs change orders daily reports and closeout packages.
Field and Team Leadership
- Oversee and manage field technicians and subcontractors providing direction and mentorship to maintain productivity safety and quality standards.
- Draw on previous foreman experience to effectively troubleshoot complex technical and on-site installation challenges.
- Conduct regular job site walk-throughs to monitor progress ensure work aligns with project specs and enforce strict adherence to OSHA safety regulations.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and foster a proactive safety-first job site culture.
Technical Expertise
- Review and interpret construction blueprints riser diagrams and scope documents.
- Provide expert guidance on Structured cabling installation fiber optic splicing techniques and oversee testing procedures using OTDR power meters and other equipment.
- Ensure all structured cabling installations comply with industry standards (e.g. TIA/EIA) and best practices.
Financial and Business Management
- Manage project budgets review all job cost postings and maintain project profitability.
- Identify and secure change orders for any work that falls outside the original scope.
- Assist with the bidding process including estimating project costs and preparing proposals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the low-voltage or telecommunications industry with at least 2 years in a lead or foreman role.
- Demonstrated past or present hands-on installation and field supervision experience.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction project management software.
- Strong understanding of industry standards such as BICSI TIA/EIA and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication organizational and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI certifications (e.g. RCDD RTPM Tech).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Minimum of an Associates degree in Construction Management Engineering or a related field.
- OSHA 10 and or OSHA 30 certification
