On 1 January 2026 Alfred Health will come together with Kooweerup Regional Health Service Peninsula Health Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service to create Bayside Health a newly merged health service with more than 22000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce providing new training education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026 all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About the Role

The Allied Health Assistant works closely with the multidisciplinary allied health team to provide a flexible and responsive service that works to meet each patients identified therapeutic and discharge goals. The position is responsible for the implementation of individual interventions and/or therapy programs as delegated by the treating therapists. The AHA will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to provide services that may include sourcing practical advice and providing support to patients and families to complete applications for services and benefits. The AHA will also be responsible for administrative and clinical support functions which assist with patient management and contribute to the effectiveness and efficiency of the ward. It is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.

About you

Grade 3:

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation with a minimum of 3 years of experience OR
  • Worked as a grade 2 allied health assistant for a minimum of 3 years (full-time equivalent) OR
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager)
    • ie: Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher

Grade 2:

  • Completion of Certificate IV (Allied Health Assistance) from a registered training organisation OR
  • Recognised equivalent qualification (as determined by the line manager)
    • Higher qualification in a relevant allied health discipline at Diploma or Associate Diploma level OR
    • Certificate level qualification in a relevant health-related field OR
    • Overseas-trained Allied Health practitioner with a qualification at Diploma level or higher OR
    • Allied Health undergraduate student (in a relevant health science discipline) having successfully completed at least 1 year
