This is a full-time position with compensation determined based on education and experience. We believe in paying our people for their performance. In addition this position will be eligible for annual raises along with annual and monthly bonuses as long as the company is financially successful and the employee performs their job to the highest standard. This position is located in our office in Glen Allen VA. No applicants will be considered to work from home or away from the office. This position is a 40 hour position working from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Friday) with a 1 hour non-paid lunch each day. If employee works more than 40 hours they will be paid overtime rate of 1.5 times hourly rate.
Duties and Responsibilities as Trade Compliance Specialist:
Responsibilities will be defined and assigned by the Controller & Trade Compliance Lead and include the following:
- Ensure all RIFP employees follow the policies processes and procedures outlined in FCTGs Import Compliance Program.
- Update and revise the import compliance policies processes and procedures annually with the Trade Compliance Lead as needed.
- Interpret and communicate key information from government publications and regulatory updates to company executives and commodity traders serving as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Monitor changes in international and domestic trade regulations and advise the Trade Compliance Lead on any potential impacts.
- Generate review and report information from governmental ACE Reports and input statistical data into internal databases to support forecasting and reporting.
- Support Import Assessments Compliance Improvement Plans (CIPs) and supplier corrective action requests (CARs).
- Organize audit and perform initial reviews of import entry packets to ensure accuracy and compliance with U.S. Customs and Border (CBP) regulations preparing them for a second review by Trade Compliance Lead.
- Request and maintain up-to-date certifications/documentation from foreign suppliers to comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Assist with new supplier due diligence and maintain the Risk Supplier Matrix database.
- Assist with new and periodic reviews of HTS classifications for imported products and maintain the HTS database.
- Assist in providing internal training on any import compliance policies procedures and regulatory updates.
- Participate with Controller and Compliance Lead on any audits that are conducted by FCTG CBP or any other governmental agencies and respond to inquiries from internal or external legal counsel.
- Assist in any other special projects for Controller President Import Trader Manager or Trade Compliance Lead.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of college education plus 1 year of relevant work experience or a bachelors degree (no work experience required)
- General experience in business commodities auditing supply chain procurement or related field is a plus for this position.
- Import compliance experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to speak multiple languages is a plus but not required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Strong ability to identify acquire and analyze pertinent data to support informed recommendations and decisions.
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to review documents carefully to identify issues or discrepancies and follow up with the Trade Compliance Lead to resolve them.
- Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with internal and external colleagues including compliance operations executives commodity traders brokers and suppliers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel Word PowerPoint; experience manipulating large datasets into reports is required. AS/400 experience is a plus.
- Strong prioritization and good organizational skills. Detail-oriented and proactive in management of projects and tasks.
- Must be willing to continue their education/skills via completion of additional certifications and continuing education that company will provide access to for individual.
Earnings Potential:
- Salary range of $56000-$64000 depending on experience and education plus potentially monthly and annual bonuses.
