Job Summary

Work for Our Water Resources.

Help protect one of Floridas most vital resources water with a summer internship at theSouthwest Florida Water Management District (District). The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources minimize flood risks and ensure the publics water needs are met. We serve a population of nearly 6million people in west-central Florida as directed by state law.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain real work experience and hands-on skills while supporting the Districts mission of protecting water resources.This position is a 90-day engagement working up to 40 hours per week.

Compensation

$14.00 - $22.00 per hour depending on position education level and previous related experience.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with writing and updating plans and procedures for the Districts Emergency Operation Center and security planning.
  • If an emergency event occurred during the internship the intern would be utilized in the emergency response.
  • Working closely with the Districts Emergency Manager and Planning Section Chiefs could provide valuable hard to come by knowledge for an intern seeking a degree in Emergency Management.
  • This position may be asked to assist with business administrative tasks with the fleet and facilities programs.

Working Conditions

These positions may require some fieldwork with the remainder of time spent in an office setting. Work environments vary by assigned business unit and position duties.

Required Credentials for Summer Student Intern

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college university or other recognized educational or vocational program at least half-time and registered for Fall classes
  • Maintain a minimum GPAof 2.5 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students
  • UploadUnofficialTranscripttoapplication or profile
  • Have the availability to work near the maximum 40 hours per week
  • Valid Florida drivers license

Required Degree Level:Bachelors or Masters level program or certification program

Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Student Internship positions are not eligible for insured medical benefits or remote work.

Travel Required: travel using District vehicle within Districts coverage area.
