This hybrid position is based in Calgary and offers strong career development hands-on project work and the opportunity to support control room systems used by public safety utilities transportation and enterprise organizations.
The Control Room AV Technician will design support and troubleshoot audiovisual and technology systems for mission-critical control rooms. You will work closely with engineering and project teams to create electrical drawings configure AV systems support installation and ensure that solutions meet client requirements and industry standards.
- Design and document AV and technology systems for control room environments.
- Create wiring diagrams electrical schematics and system layouts.
- Support installation configuration and testing of AV equipment including video walls LED displays projectors and networked AV systems.
- Troubleshoot AV network and cabling issues in high-availability systems.
- Provide on-site and remote support during project delivery and commissioning.
- Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders to clarify requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation including bills of materials diagrams and change records.
- Assist with quality control testing and system validation activities.
- Stay informed on AV and control room technology trends.
Requirements
- Two to four years of experience in AV control room or related technical environments.
- Strong knowledge of electrical controls and electrical system design.
- Experience with cable management systems.
- Familiarity with LCD video walls and direct view LED displays.
- Understanding of networking basics and fiber cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work with clients and project teams.
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field.
- Experience with redundant power systems.
- Knowledge of laser projectors.
- Experience with KVM over IP or AV over IP platforms.
- Certifications such as CTS or CET.
