Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a Rotating Equipment/ Mechanical Equipment Specialist who will be based out of Deer Park TX. This position will report to the West HyCO Maintenance/TAR Manager and will work with the HyCO Maintenance Reliability and operations teams to achieve strategic and tactical reliability goals for rotating equipment in Praxairs Hydrogen / Carbon Monoxide (HyCO) facilities. Primary locations are in Southeast TX Southern Louisiana Chicago and Northeastern US.
The overall objective of the Mechanical Specialist is to ensure the safe and reliable operation of mechanical equipment at production facilities at the lowest life cycle Mechanical Specialist will be responsible for the planning and execution of major overhauls and repairs of rotating mechanical equipment. Additionally the successful candidate will be involved in major troubleshooting and assisting reliability group in the analysis of predictive information supplied by maintenance technicians. This person will be expected to work with site teams and independently making technical decisions and recommendations in the field.
Essential Functions:
Plan schedule coordinate and execute major equipment installations maintenance overhauls and inspections - including corrective preventative or working with reliability group on predictive work of industrial mechanical and rotating equipment systems including:
Centrifugal Reciprocating and Screw Compressors
Centrifugal Pumps
Expansion Turbines
High and low speed Gearboxes
Lead contract and Praxair technicians in field execution of mechanical equipment maintenance.
Provide support for turnaround organization and special projects as required including planning and cost estimation.
Provide on-site and remote technical support for mechanical equipment at HyCO facilities.
Assist reliability group in identifying and resolving chronic mechanical asset concerns (bad actors).
Support root cause analysis program for major failures.
Drive resolution of highest impact issues with a strong sense of urgency and integrity.
Work independently and make decisions based on full awareness of cost and other benefits.
This position requires a combination of office work and field work. This position typically requires approximately 50% travel domestically.
Accessibility during off-hours is required.
Employee will be required to work in different weather conditions and must be able to access elevated mechanical equipment via ladders and scaffolding.
Develop standardized report formats and documentation tools that would be utilized by all doing work on equipment (internal Praxair or contractors) for all rotating equipment types.

Qualification Requirements:
Minimum 10 years experience maintaining installing troubleshooting inspecting repairing and overhauling mechanical rotating equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment
Must have technical competencies in troubleshooting root cause failure analysis general computer skills work planning and estimating.
Proven experience developing overhaul/ repair plans for rotating and fixed equipment.
Must be able to manage multiple priorities drive issues to completion and obtain results.
Must be proficient in the use of CMMS (EAM is a plus but not mandatory) Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
Proven knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance procedures applicable to a variety of rotating and reciprocating mechanical equipment.
Proven ability to use a variety of precision measuring devices to perform inspections assembly and precision alignments of rotating equipment
Excellent communication and team interaction skills.
Proven ability to work independently as well as lead teams of mechanical contractor supported assignments
Proven experience as a self-starter who effectively manages multiple tasks achieves results with minimal supervision and possesses excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
Desired Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology
Successful completion of a 4-year machinist/ millwright apprenticeship program.
Proven hands-on experience in vibration analysis and dynamic balancing.
Ability to build project plans using Microsoft Project.
