Ready to help shape the future of electric mobility Were looking for a Research & Development Engineer in Lafayette IN to lead innovation in EV technology automotive R&D and advanced magnet wire solutions for electric vehicle applications. This role focuses on enameling fluid dynamics copper/aluminum metallurgy and high-performance materials engineering to support next-generation EV systems.
Research & Development Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in designing modeling and testing prototypes for new products and process improvements.
- Develop research proposals design briefs and performance criteria for EV-related projects.
- Select materials create final specifications and oversee concept sample production.
- Apply computational analysis fluid mechanics and metallurgical principles for design validation and optimization.
- Collaborate with APQP teams to ensure successful product development through production support.
- Act as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in design testing and manufacturing practices aligned with EV strategy.
Research & Development Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Masters preferred) ideally in metallurgy mechanical or chemical engineering.
- 10 years in product/process engineering with strong knowledge of fluid mechanics and metallurgy.
- Experience with magnet wire products automotive manufacturing and EV components preferred.
- Hands-on experience with production equipment lab testing and prototype development.
- Familiarity with APQP automotive product development and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving project management and customer communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
