The Plant Manager oversees all daily operations of the ready-mix concrete plant ensuring safety quality efficiency and compliance. This role requires strong leadership a positive and professional demeanor the ability to work independently and the flexibility to manage a fast-paced environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Managing production operations and meeting production quotas
- Maintaining quality control standards
- Scheduling and managing raw materials
- Troubleshooting equipment issues
- Supervising plant personnel and drivers
- Overseeing maintenance inventory environmental compliance and plant appearance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain the highest standards of quality and safety from production to shipment
- Safely batch concrete and load trucks according to customer specifications
- Oversee daily production and scheduling to ensure efficient operations
- Manage maintenance scheduling and performance
- Maintain accurate raw material and spare parts inventory
- Hire train direct evaluate and discipline staff in accordance with company policy
- Coordinate with the Production Manager and other departments
- Monitor and maintain fleet cleanliness and coordinate fleet repairs
- Work with welding shop and truck shop on plant and vehicle maintenance
- Perform month-end inventory
- Develop strong working relationships with sales representatives and customers
- Manage COD transactions
- Operate a front-end loader as needed
Additional Responsibilities
- Review daily driver vehicle reports
- Maintain supplies and raw materials inventory
- Complete daily/weekly/monthly reports
- Conduct safety meetings
- Perform QC sampling and testing
- Ensure compliance with local state and federal regulations
- Maintain plant equipment and assets in optimal condition
- Assist with equipment maintenance when required
- Operate the plant within budget guidelines
- Review customer orders for correct mix designs
- Communicate effectively with operations staff to ensure resources and equipment availability
- Promote and uphold a safe clean and environmentally compliant plant
- Conduct regular plant inspections safety meetings and ensure proper PPE use
- Manage batching fleet reliability plant appearance and yard organization
- Use KPIs to drive performance improvement and coordinate efficient delivery
- Monitor incoming materials for quality consistency and volume
- Collaborate with other departments to meet customer expectations and resolve issues
Qualifications & Requirements
- Working knowledge of OSHA/DOT regulations preferred
- ACI Level I Field Testing Technician and Concrete Batch Plant Operator certifications required within 90 days of hire
- 5 years of progressive experience in ready-mix concrete production plant equipment and fleet management preferred
- Ability to climb conveyor belts and silos up to 70 feet
- Knowledge of state and federal employment safety and environmental regulations
- Strong math computer interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work a variable schedule extended hours irregular shifts and weekends as needed
