Responsibilities:
- Communicating effectively with staff patients guarantors insurance companies and physicians.
- Learning quickly and following directions as outlined in policies or given by the Supervisor.
- Demonstrating ability to maneuver through multiple screens in a timely manner.
- Multi-tasking in a fast and high-pressured environment.
- Adhering to all HIPAA laws.
- Utilizing strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make appropriate decisions.
- Providing excellent customer service and phone skills.
- Traveling to off-site locations if required.
- Performing all tasks related to registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts.
- Calculating and securing patient liability including copayments coinsurance and deductibles.
- Performing selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinating equipment/supply needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good English speaking spelling reading and mathematical skills.
- Strong computer skills and knowledge in Word Excel.
- Strong typing skills (45 WPM).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and phone skills.
- One year of experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office setting with strong computer and customer service experience.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Insurance and billing experience.
- Drivers License (for outpatient only).
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Medical terminology knowledge.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin).
- Evidence of continuing education.
- LA City Fire Card (within 6 months of employment for PHGSH only).
Special Considerations:
- Orientation week schedule may differ from the normal shift/schedule.
- Must be flexible with scheduling during orientation.
- RTO (requested time off) must be on the submittal.
- No RTO the first two weeks of an assignment.
- Once RTO is submitted this cannot be changed unless its to cancel time requested.
Scheduling:
- Part-time: 25 hours per week.
- Shift: 0500-1000 (5 hours per day 5 days per week).
- No weekends.
