- Help us use advanced tools such as CAE FEA machine-learning shape optimization and physical crash testing to develop next generation vehicle structures and restraint systems. - The primary responsibility of this role is to Develop and Confirm Crash Safety Performance for North American and global midsized unibody platform vehicles.
What youll be doing
- Responsible for Crash safety performance development of Front Impact pedestrian rear and Interior components and system performance evaluations
- Set up conduct component level and some system level evaluations and/or Computer simulations (CAE) following existing standards; Identifies key change points and ensures appropriate measurement systems
- Develop mechanism of phenomena using fundamental engineering and physics; Study change points by design review and predict performance trends using engineering calculation and analysis tools
- Propose countermeasures based on thorough root cause analysis considering side effects within own function as well as cross functional communication with evaluation teams.
- Prepare and report technical analysis for component performance in a logical way to get consensus within department; Support analysis and material preparation for Target setting and Performance strategy plan
- Maintain weekly schedule to track performance and open items to meet internal due dates
Requirements:
What you bring - Education: B.S in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent
- Experience in Side Impact or Interior and Seat Safety Regulation Rating and Internal Test Modes
- Proactive attitude Self-starter Willingness to learn and contribute.
- Good communication Reporting skills
- Experience w/ Microsoft Office products Engineering Analysis tools/software
What you may bring - Education: M.S in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Coursework or research in Biomechanical or Automotive Engineering Fields
- Experience with Side Impact Interior and Seat Safety and Internal Test Modes such as:
- Front Impact Regulation: FMVSS208 FMVSS 301/305
- Front Impact Rating: IIHS SOL ODB Impact US NCAP
- Interior and Seat Safety Regulations: FMVSS201 FMVSS201u FMVSS207/210 FMVSS225 FMVSS202a
- Interior and Seat Safety Ratings: IIHS Whiplash IIHS Latch
- Experience using LS-Dyna to analyze dynamic phenomena
- Experience with CAE Tools such as Oasys Primer Ansa Hypermesh Animator
- Experience Programming or writing Macros
