- Strong understanding of compact construction equipment systems diagnostics and repair procedures.
- Strong understanding of heavy-duty truck systems diagnostics and repair procedures.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations safety compliance and preventive maintenance standards.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and OEM service standards.
- Ability to manage budgets control costs and optimize shop efficiency.
- Proficiency in service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualification(s)
- Technical certifications in compact construction equipment or diesel technology.
- OEM certifications (Caterpillar or similar brands).
- Previous experience managing compact equipment or heavy machinery service department.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or technical certification in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
- Bachelors degree in business management or related discipline is a plus.
Essential Job Functions
- Plan organize and supervise daily shop operations for compact equipment trucks and machine shops.
- Understands and stays current on the latest Caterpillar warranty guidelines and can administer and explain warranty to customers. Works with warranty analyst to ensure claims are written correctly and the maximum dollars are recovered.
- Works with Service Manager and Caterpillar Reps on policy and repairs outside normal warranty.
Schedules customer jobs and communicates this and any possible changes in the schedule to the customer.
- Maintain effective work vacation and training scheduled for assigned staff.
- Assign work orders monitor progress and ensure timely completion.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians.
- Communicate with customers regarding service needs estimates and timelines.
- Respond to all customer requests in a professional and courteous timely and responsive manner.
- Maintain a clean professional personal appearance at all times meeting all Company standards for professionalism.
- Monitor KPIs and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Lead mentor and develop a team of service technicians.
- Foster a culture of safety accountability and customer focus.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide training opportunities.

Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in physically demanding environments.
- Capability to stand bend and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
- Pass a pre-employment background check and physical exam including a drug screen and meet all physical requirements for the position.
Work Environment
- Primarily shop-based with exposure to noise grease and outdoor conditions.
- Occasional travel to customer sites may be required.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
- Maintain a clean safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must be honest reliable and dependable and display a positive attitude.
- Must be able to work well under occasional pressure or within work standards and deadlines.
- Must be able to work independently and/or with others in a team environment.
- Able to work a standard five-day schedule including daily overtime and occasional weekend hours as needed.
- Meet all eligibility requirements to drive Company vehicles including a current valid drivers license issued by the resident State.
