Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System has167 licensed beds and 23 emergency suites. The hospitaloffers outstanding ancillary services including Laboratory Radiology and Therapy our Breast Imaging Center of Excellencewomen can have their annual mammograms biopsiesand can meet with a nurse navigator if needed. The Womens Center offers six newly remodeled labor and delivery suites and has a secure nursery for the care of our newborns. It serves an eight-county region in the Lakeway Area and is equipped with modern technologies and expert staff to provide the best possible patient care. Our 23-bed Emergency Department is equipped with the latest technology including computerized patient trackingRadiology Servicesinside the ER and easy access toSurgeryIntensive Care and other vital areas of the hospital. We are equipped with the only Heart Cath Labs in the Lakeway Area. The Emergency Department is also the areas only Designated General Pediatric Emergency Facility offering specialized equipment and advanced training and certification in caring for emergencies involving children.

Position Summary:

Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures measuring cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output blood flow velocity cardiovascular dynamics cardiac electrophysiology parameters intracardiac shunt detection valve flow/valve area determinations intracardiac pressure measurements oximetry determination cineangiocardiography and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices. The technologist assists in all phases of catheterization procedure including insertion of the catheter operation of various electronic instruments and calculation of hemodynamic data.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical expertise and knowledge of unit are such that complex patient management and physician issues are resolved independently.
  • Serves as a role model to others by assuming the role of the team leader responsibilities of a preceptor cross-trains to other areas and provides education to the community and department.
  • Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills to include; IABP stents DCA complex PTCAs Alblations and Pacemakers.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis.
  • Proficient in patient assessment monitoring and sterile technique as required.
  • Assists in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas.
  • Maintains patients confidential records reports and files.
  • Responds appropriately and timely to patients physicians and other customers needs.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the entire life span
  • Six (6) credit hours of providing inservices per year.
  • Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

None specified; however must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Minimum Experience:

6 (six) months experience within an invasive cardiac catheterization laboratory that performs invasive cardiac catheterization and associated procedures. Education clinical experience for certification and/or licensure is acceptable.

Licensure Requirement:

Must hold current registration as a:

CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or

CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or

ARRT RT(R) - preferably with a VI or CI category designation.

Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
